What happens when a boss ass wedding planner and a bad ass dj have been married for 5 years? (Not to mention their 5 year wedding anniversary just so happened to fall on Friday the 13th) They go to Vegas, DUH! The ultimate Husband/Wife duo behind the San Diego based wedding company Urban Shindigs shared a 5 year Wedding Anniversary Vow Renewal in Downtown Las Vegas at Fremont.
They teamed up with long-time friend and kick ass photo taker Sarah from This Rad Love. It was just the three amigos trolling around the streets of Downtown Vegas looking to get boozed & tattooed, while capturing their love as pure and easy going as can be. They really wanted it to be as natural and ‘THEM’ as possible. Adding to their esthetic, the streets of Downtown Vegas was a perfect locale. Tying in the history of Vegas, they snapped some photos at the Neon Museum, found awesome backdrops with the street art and graffiti, and took advantage of the empty streets and desert when available.
Vow renewal day! To get ready for their beautiful day they had to enlist the help of a few friends. Erin from Hot Seat Salon, had Tawnee’s grey hair bangin’ and point. She didn’t stop there … she wanted to give Luis the platinum white ‘grey hair don’t care’ treatment as well! These silver foxes dressed themselves up to surprise one another.
Tawnee wore a backless gold sequins jumper with nude heels. Her make-up was done at the MAC pro station in Caesars Palace by Renee Wright. We went with a red wine shadow and sun kissed cheek. Luis, decked out in black, had a few little subtleties, to catch her eye. He added a lightning pin to his vest, wore a neck tie chain, always keeps a bandana tucked in his back pocket, and hemmed his pants to give the traditional dress pant an upgrade.
Time for the MUSHY stuff! Bringing together 5 years of marriage, 13 Years of being with one another, and having your anniversary fall on a Friday the 13th is a lot to go over, or even handle. Thank goodness for Victoria from Flora Pop. Her cute pop up wedding trailer was the best way to bring these two to tears. How fitting, to be set up in front of the infamous Kings Row Trailer Park, these two spilled their guts and cried tears of happiness.
Soon after the vows, it was time to make the ultimate lasting impression, A FRIDAY THE 13th TATTOO! Having the 13 incased in a coffin only represents ‘Till Death’ a theme used from their original wedding. The perfect setting for this last forever moment was Downtown Tattoo on Fremont.
This was, indeed, a REAL shoot; a real couple, real makers and shakers in the wedding industry, and real love. From start to finish, boarding an airplane, living it up in Downtown Vegas, renewing vows after 5 years, TATTOOS, and expressing a love that only these two share.
X's & O's,
Tawnee & Luis
